Lions Club of Warrandyte

Have you ever wondered what the Lions Club of Warrandyte does?

We are a member club of the Association of Lions Clubs Internatio0nal that has over 1.4 million members worldwide. We embrace the development of understanding among peoples of the world, promote good citizenship, fund civic, cultural, social and moral welfare, assist the handicapped and disadvantaged and encourage service minded people to serve their communities without personal financial gain. Each member agrees to be bound by a code of ethics which highlights one's obligations as a citizen to the nation and to the community.

The Lions Club of Warrandyte was formed in 1972 by a group of young men keen to address the needs of the disadvantaged in our community while empowered by good fellowship and friendship of each other. This enduring spirit has allowed us to very much more as a group than what could be achieved individually. In over 30 years this club's wide ranging activities has recognised people in need in our community and has provided them with support in kind, act and deed. Whether it is a child in need of specialist medical procedures, an aged person who needs gutters cleaned for the fire season or a member of the community seeking assistance with finding a job. Regularly the club conducts health, sight and hearing screening, hosts foreign exchange students, provides Christmas Hampers to the needy, sponsors the Warrandyte Youth Art Award and organises "In the Drivers Seat" a day for the visually handicapped to drive a motor car.

Did you know the Lions Club of Warrandyte helps with the purchase of fire trucks used by our CFA, sends disadvantaged children on school camps to our own Lions Village at Licola and supports the Warrandyte Food Band? Space here does not allow mention of our national and international projects. Perhaps it may be assistance for flood victims in New South Wales or Bangledesh or helping raise a child in India. The list is endless...
